Oral Hygiene

Good oral hygiene requires the use of dental floss. Aside from the tooth brush and tooth paste, these are important tools in acquiring clean and healthy teeth and gums. The main purpose of oral hygiene is to reduce the number of microbes in the mouth and teeth and thus reduce the damage they can inflict. Use of anti-microbial chemicals, like mouthwash, does this more effectively than brushing and flossing alone. Some tooth pastes have some of these chemicals, like SLS, which also induces foam formation. However, despite good dental hygiene practices, some level of tooth decay still occurs.

Tooth decay occurs when the bacteria eats the food remaining on the tooth even after brushing. Most of these reside in the dental plaque which is hard and have small spaces that trap bits of food.  Removal of dental plaque is hard even with floss. Removal of this plaque may require frequent visits to the dentist. A good dentist liverpool England and other places can be contacted through listings posted in the internet. Tooth extraction and subsequent application of dentures or dental implants may also be done by some of these dentists.
